In a stunning display of power and tactical prowess, Belgian rider Tim Wellens of UAE Team Emirates claimed a memorable solo victory in Stage 15 of the Tour de France on Sunday, July 20, 2025. The victory marks a significant career achievement for Wellens, who has now won a stage in all three of cycling's Grand Tours.

The 185-kilometer stage, which started in Muret and concluded in Carcassonne, was perfectly suited for a breakaway, and a large group of riders, including Wellens, animated the day's racing. With over 40 kilometers remaining, Wellens launched a decisive attack from the leading group, forging ahead on his own.

Despite the challenging terrain and the efforts of the chasing pack, the reigning Belgian national champion relentlessly extended his advantage. He crossed the finish line in the historic city of Carcassonne with a significant gap over his pursuers, celebrating a hard-fought and well-deserved win.

The victory is the latest success for the dominant UAE Team Emirates in this year's Tour, further solidifying their position. While Wellens celebrated his individual triumph, his teammate and overall race leader, Tadej Pogačar, finished safely within the peloton to retain the yellow jersey.

This stage win is a testament to Wellens' experience and strength, adding a prestigious Tour de France victory to his existing stage wins at the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España, completing the coveted Grand Tour trilogy.
