Tyrrell Hatton has grabbed headlines at The 153rd Open Championship, not only for his impressive play that has seen him contend near the top of the leaderboard but also for his characteristically candid comments and unique preparation methods.

The English golfer, currently ranked 23rd in the world, finds himself in a strong position heading into the weekend at Royal Portrush. After an opening round of 68, he followed up with a 69 on Friday to sit at five-under-par, well within striking distance of the leaders. His momentum continued into the third round with a spectacular hole-out eagle on the par-five seventh hole, a shot that vaulted him up the leaderboard and brought a rare, wide smile to his face.

Hatton's performance comes on the heels of a strong showing at last month's US Open, where he finished in a tie for fourth. This week, however, it's his off-course remarks that have garnered as much attention as his on-course prowess. The 33-year-old unabashedly admitted to preparing for the major with "three pints of Guinness" and has been forthright about his fiery on-course temperament, for which he has become well-known.

"I'm not going to change. I'm 33. I think that ship has sailed, to be honest," Hatton told reporters when asked about his emotional displays. "It's just how I am, how I play." He maintains that despite outward appearances of frustration, he is able to maintain focus on the next shot.

This year marks Hatton's first season with LIV Golf, and his performances in the new league have been solid, including top-five finishes at LIV Golf Dallas and LIV Golf Mexico City. His transition to the new tour has not seemed to affect his form in the major championships.

As The Open heads towards its conclusion, all eyes will be on Hatton to see if his blend of raw emotion and exceptional talent can carry him to his first major championship victory. His recent results and current form suggest he is a serious contender to lift the Claret Jug.
