In the latest NFL news, veteran running back Raheem Mostert has been signed by the Las Vegas Raiders. The move was announced in March of 2025 and comes after Mostert was released by the Miami Dolphins in February.

Mostert's departure from the Dolphins followed a 2024 season in which his production saw a significant decline. After a career-best year in 2023 where he led the NFL in total touchdowns with 21, his role diminished in 2024, and he finished the season with 278 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 13 games. This drop-off followed a season that was also impacted by a chest injury early on. Mostert, who turns 33 in April, expressed frustration over his reduced playing time and a lack of explanation from the Dolphins' coaching staff.

The signing with the Raiders is a one-year deal. He joins a new-look backfield in Las Vegas, which also includes rookie Ashton Jeanty, the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Mostert is expected to serve as a backup to Jeanty, with some analysts suggesting he could be a "change of pace" back and a mentor to the younger player. Mostert's contract has little guaranteed money, which allows the Raiders flexibility.

In addition to his move to the Raiders, Mostert has been in the news for comments he made on social media criticizing his former team. After the Dolphins traded tight end Jonnu Smith and cornerback Jalen Ramsey, Mostert posted a comment suggesting that Pro Bowl players on the team are "treated like sh*t."
