Experimental rapper and producer JPEGMAFIA has issued a sharp critique of Drake's lyrical themes, stating that listeners are tired of the Toronto superstar's well-worn subject matter. In a recent interview with Billboard, the provocative artist did not mince words when discussing the state of modern hip-hop and what he sees as a yearning for something new.

"People yearn for something new, especially in rap," JPEGMAFIA asserted. "We're yearning, we're tired. We don't wanna hear Drake complain about b*tches anymore. We don't f*cking care, he's 40."

Peggy, as he is known to his fans, positioned himself as the antidote to this perceived lyrical stagnation. "We need something different," he continued. "I'm here to try to provide and cultivate that as much as I can because rap fans are f*cking bored.

This is not the first time JPEGMAFIA has taken aim at the OVO hitmaker. The "I Lay Down My Life For You" artist has a history of dissing Drake in his music and on social media, often citing what he views as a lack of innovation in mainstream rap.

While Drake is reportedly hard at work on a new album and preparing for a major European tour, JPEGMAFIA's comments add to a growing discourse about the lyrical evolution of hip-hop's most commercially successful artists. With his own lane carved out"Conscious rap has Nas, trap rap has Future, experimental rap is me," he declared. JPEGMAFIA is making it clear he's ready to lead the charge for a new creative direction in the genre.
