Milwaukee, WI – June 13, 2025 – First baseman Andrew Vaughn has been traded to the Milwaukee Brewers from the Chicago White Sox in a one-for-one deal for right-handed pitcher Aaron Civale, both teams have confirmed.
The trade sends the former third-overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft to a new league and a team in the thick of the playoff hunt. Vaughn, who has spent his entire professional career with the White Sox organization, will look for a fresh start in Milwaukee after a challenging start to the 2025 season.
This season, the 27-year-old has posted a .189 batting average with five home runs and 19 RBIs in 48 games. His struggles at the plate led to a demotion to Triple-A Charlotte in late May, a move intended to allow him to work on his swing and regain his form.
In exchange for Vaughn, the White Sox acquire Aaron Civale, a veteran starting pitcher who had recently expressed his desire for a trade after being moved to the Brewers' bullpen.
The Brewers are hopeful that a change of scenery will benefit Vaughn and that his bat can provide a boost to their lineup. A natural first baseman, Vaughn has also seen time in the outfield during his major league career. His arrival in Milwaukee provides the team with another right-handed power option as they continue their push for a postseason berth.
