Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy is set for a monumental second half of 2025 with the announcement of a new album, "No Sign Of Weakness," slated for release on July 11. The Grammy award-winning artist has also unveiled a massive North American tour to accompany the album, signaling a new era after declaring his "African Giant" persona "dead."
The upcoming album, his first full-length project since 2023's "I Told Them...", has been preceded by a string of singles, including the Travis Scott-assisted "TaTaTa," the soulful "Sweet Love," "Update," and "Bundle by Bundle." These tracks offer a glimpse into the evolved soundscape of the self-proclaimed "Odogwu."
Kicking off in the fall, the "No Sign of Weakness" tour will see Burna Boy perform in 16 cities across the United States and Canada. A unique feature of the tour will be a custom-designed 360-degree stage, promising an immersive experience for his global fanbase. The tour is scheduled to begin on November 12 at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, and conclude with a two-night residency in Toronto on December 17 and 18.
This year has already been a whirlwind of high-profile appearances for the artist. In May, he turned heads at the 2025 Met Gala and hosted an exclusive after-party. He is also billed to headline the Afro Nation Portugal festival in July and delivered a headline performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest.
The announcements come on the heels of a controversial statement made by the singer in May, where he proclaimed that the "African Giant" persona, which defined a significant chapter of his career, is no more. In a cryptic social media post, he suggested that the persona had been "killed" by the very people who elevated it.
Despite the shift in persona, Burna Boy's critical acclaim continues to grow. In 2025, he has already secured a win at the Africa Advertainment and Media Excellence Awards (AAEA) for Best Overall Male Artist. He has also garnered nominations at the BET Awards, NAACP Image Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards, and the Trace Awards, solidifying his position as a dominant force in the global music scene. His collaboration with his mother and manager, Bose Ogulu, also continues to be recognized, with Ogulu receiving a nomination for Manager of the Year at the 2025 Music Week Awards.
As fans eagerly await the release of "No Sign Of Weakness," all eyes are on Burna Boy to see what this new chapter holds for the ever-evolving artist.
