New York to host 2026 FIFA World Cup final



The 2026 World Cup final will be held at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey, organisers FIFA announced on Sunday.

The New York bid held off a strong challenge from Dallas to secure the July 19 game, the culmination of the expanded 48-team tournament being co-hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.
The decisions were announced on a live television broadcast in North America which featured FIFA president Gianni Infantino alongside comedian and actor Kevin Hart, rapper Drake and celebrity Kim Kardashian.

Kebbi plans free feeding during Ramadan


Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has pledged to identify one mosque in every local government area of the state for free feeding during Ramadan.

Idris pledged when he received the people of Arewa and Dandi Local Governments who paid him a visit on the victory of the All Progressives Congress in the just concluded re-run election held in the two LGs.

The Arewa/Dandi Federal Constituency was one of the constituencies where the re-run election took place on Saturday, February 3, where the APC reclaimed the seat with a slight margin.

NAFDAC begins enforcement of ban on alcoholic drinks in sachets


The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has commenced the enforcement of the ban on the importation, manufacture, distribution, sale, and use of alcoholic beverages in sachets, PET, and glass bottles of 200ml and below.

The Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, stated this on Monday at a press conference in Abuja.

“As of January 31, 2024, there is no alcoholic beverage in these categories that are registered by NAFDAC.
