Electricity subsidy no longer sustainable – FG
The Federal Government, on Wednesday, declared that it was now “very difficult to sustain subsidy on electricity” as it revealed that the country’s power debt had continued to balloon.
Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, said Nigeria must begin to move towards a cost-effective tariff model, as he revealed that the country was currently indebted to the tune of N1.3tn to electricity generating companies, while the debt to gas companies was $1.3bn.
BREAKING: EFCC operatives allegedly arrest FUTA students in midnight raid
Men suspected to be operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission were said to have carried out a midnight operation at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State.
Students’ lodges were reportedly invaded at about 2am.
Some students have taken to social media, sharing videos and alleging that the men broke into rooms and arrested some students.
Videos circulating on social media show broken window frames from what is believed to be an attempt at forced entry.
