Soludo admits refusing to construct road due to political affiliation
The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has said he initially declined to construct a road in Okpoko community in Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state because the House of Representatives member representing the area, Noble Igwe, was in the opposition party.
Soludo said that when the house member complained about the poor state of the road, known as Nwokedi Street, to him, he dismissed his complaints because he was in opposition.
The governor stated this while inaugurating 12 km of roads in the Okpoko area on Monday.
Rivers police arrest teenager for defiling 11-year-old schoolmate
There was outrage as a 16-year-old student openly defiled his 11-year-old female colleague at a school in the Rumukwurusi area on the outskirts of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, last Friday.
It was gathered that while the student carried out the act, his friends watched the scene.
Shortly after committing the act, the boy was said to have scaled the school fence to escape but was later held by the school authorities while the girl was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

Obi seeks review of 2024 budget
The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called for a total review of the 2024 budget, citing grave concerns over the nation’s deteriorating security situation, widespread poverty, food insecurity, and crumbling infrastructure.
In a statement on Monday via X, Obi’s call comes amid controversies surrounding the current budget and its allocation of resources.
“Having followed the controversies trailing the 2024 budget, and having read some of the budgetary provisions and allocations of resources, I wish to respectfully appeal for a total review of the entire budget.
