A major fire has caused severe damage to the iconic main stage of the Tomorrowland electronic music festival, just two days before the highly anticipated event was set to welcome hundreds of thousands of attendees. The blaze erupted on Wednesday afternoon, sending thick plumes of black smoke into the sky above the festival grounds in Boom.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. Approximately 1,000 staff members were on-site preparing for the festival's opening weekend when the fire broke out. All personnel were safely evacuated.

Videos circulating on social media showed the massive, intricately designed main stage, a centerpiece of the festival, being consumed by flames. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by local authorities.

In a statement, Tomorrowland organizers confirmed the incident, stating, "Due to a serious incident and fire on the Tomorrowland Mainstage, our beloved Mainstage has been severely damaged." Despite the significant setback, organizers have affirmed that the festival will proceed as scheduled.

"We can announce that DreamVille [the festival's campsite] will open tomorrow as planned and will be ready for all DreamVille visitors," the statement continued. "All Global Journey activities in Brussels and Antwerp will also take place as planned."

The festival, one of the largest and most famous of its kind in the world, is scheduled to take place over two weekends, starting this Friday. Organizers are now reportedly working on "solutions" for the performances that were slated for the main stage, which was set to host some of the biggest names in electronic dance music.

The news has been met with a mix of shock and disappointment from festival-goers worldwide, many of whom travel to Belgium specifically for the immersive experience that Tomorrowland is known for, with its elaborate stage designs being a key attraction. However, there is also a sense of relief that no one was harmed in the incident. The festival is now faced with the challenge of adapting its plans to ensure the event can go on for the thousands of fans who have already arrived or are en route.
