Chelsea Football Club have reportedly reached an agreement with German club Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of highly-rated English winger Jamie Gittens. The deal, which has been a subject of intense speculation, is believed to be worth up to €65 million (£55.5 million), including performance-related bonuses.

The 20-year-old forward is expected to join the Premier League side on a long-term contract, marking a significant move in the summer transfer window. Gittens, an England U21 international, has been a standout performer for Dortmund, known for his pace, dribbling ability, and eye for goal. Last season, he contributed significantly with 12 goals and five assists across all competitions.

Talks between the two clubs are said to have progressed while both teams are in the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup. Despite interest from other top European clubs, including Bayern Munich, Chelsea appears to have secured the services of the promising young talent.

Gittens, who began his youth career at Reading before moving to Manchester City and then to Dortmund in 2020, follows a similar path to Jadon Sancho in making a name for himself in the Bundesliga. His return to English football will see him bolster Chelsea's attacking options under manager Enzo Maresca.

The transfer is anticipated to be formally announced pending a medical examination and the finalization of personal terms. Gittens' arrival at Stamford Bridge is seen as a key part of Chelsea's strategy to inject youth and dynamism into their squad ahead of the new season.
