FRSC warns staff against corrupt practices
The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Dauda Biu, has warned staff against getting involved in corrupt practices.
Biu gave the warning at the first quarter Corps Marshal strategy session with commanding officers in Abuja on Wednesday, urging the staff to avoid tarnishing the image of the corps.
The Corps Marshal noted that corrupt practices must be dealt with, adding that any form of corruption would be met with severe consequences.
Reps threaten CBN gov’s arrest over REMITA leakages
The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee, on Tuesday, summoned the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, to unfailingly appear before it on March 5, 2024 over issues relating to alleged leakages with the e-payment solution platform, REMITA.
The Reps fumed that Cardoso’s failure to appear before the committee during previous sittings “has greatly stalled this committee’s investigative process on revenue leakages through the REMITA platform.
Chelsea, Arsenal get Osimhen transfer boost
The priority of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen this summer is a move to the Premier League, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, with Chelsea, Arsenal and French giants PSG among the clubs keen to sign him this summer.
Osimhen recently signed a contract extension until June 2026 with Napoli, but the Serie A champions are prepared to part company with their star striker, who has a release clause in the region of €130m included in his new deal.
“We still can’t rule out Arsenal in the race for Osimhen,”Jacobs’ sources claim.
The Central Bank of Nigeria has announced its decision to sell foreign exchange worth $20,000 to each eligible Bureau De Change operator across the country.
This is coming more than two years after the suspended former CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, stopped the sales of foreign exchange to BDC operators in that segment of the forex market.
The apex bank disclosed this in a new circular issued and signed by the Director, Trade and Exchange Department, Hassan Mahmud, on Tuesday.
The circular titled, “Sale of Foreign Exchange to Bureau de Change Operators to meet retail demand for eligible invisible transactions.
