His remains are expected to be flown back to Nigeria and transported to Daura for burial today, Monday, July 14, 2025, in accordance with Islamic rites. The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the former president, describing it as a great loss to the nation and particularly to the people of Daura.
