Following an emergency landing by a small aircraft, Birmingham Airport's runway has been temporarily closed. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon, has caused all flights to be put on hold and a number of incoming flights to be diverted to other airports.

 

West Midlands Police reported that one person sustained minor injuries in the incident. Emergency services were at the scene, and the Civil Aviation Authority has been notified.

The airport has issued a statement apologizing for the inconvenience and has stated that it will provide updates as they become available.

In other news, Birmingham Airport recently became one of the first UK airports to lift the 100ml liquid rule for hand luggage. After a £60 million investment in new security technology, passengers are now permitted to carry up to two litres of liquids in their hand luggage.
