On August 6, 2025, Kelly Clarkson announced that she is postponing the remainder of her Las Vegas residency to be with her children, sharing that their father, Brandon Blackstock, "has been ill" this past year. The singer made the announcement on Instagram, stating that she needs to be "fully present" for their two children, River and Remington.
The announcement comes after a source had previously hinted that Clarkson was facing "serious hidden battles" that few were aware of, following her cancellation of earlier shows in July due to vocal issues.
Blackstock, a talent manager and television producer, was married to Clarkson for seven years before their divorce was finalized in 2022. Their divorce was a public and often contentious affair. In 2023, a California labor commissioner ruled that Blackstock owed Clarkson $2.6 million in commissions, but the parties eventually reached a confidential settlement in May 2024.
Since their divorce, Blackstock has been focused on his rodeo company in Montana. Clarkson, meanwhile, has been open about the challenges of co-parenting and the emotional toll of the divorce, which inspired her 2023 album, Chemistry.
