Recent reports suggest that Liverpool's young Scottish winger, Ben Doak, is attracting significant transfer interest from several clubs across Europe. Following an impressive loan spell at Middlesbrough last season where he scored three goals and provided seven assists in 24 appearances, Doak has returned to Liverpool for pre-season. However, with strong competition for places in the attacking lineup, his future at Anfield is uncertain.
Clubs like Leeds United, West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, and Bournemouth are all reportedly monitoring the 19-year-old. It's been claimed that Liverpool has set an asking price of around £20-25 million for the player, having previously rejected offers in the region of £20 million in January.
Doak, who missed Euro 2024 with Scotland due to a knee injury he sustained in late 2023, appears to be fully recovered. He has featured in several of Liverpool's pre-season friendlies, putting in a good performance in a recent win against Preston. A recent absence from a friendly against Yokohama was due to a passport issue that prevented him from obtaining the necessary visa, rather than an injury or transfer-related reason.
While Liverpool's new manager, Arne Slot, has yet to fully assess his squad, the club's established attacking options and recent signings may make it difficult for Doak to secure regular first-team football. A permanent move, or another loan, is therefore a possibility as Doak looks to continue his development.
