Alex Kingston joins Strictly Come Dancing 2025 lineup! Find out what the ER and Doctor Who star had to say about her new dance floor challenge.

Actress Alex Kingston, widely celebrated for her roles in ER and Doctor Who, has been officially announced as a contestant for the 2025 series of the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. The news was revealed on The One Show, with Kingston expressing her excitement with a simple but enthusiastic, "Aaaaagghhh!!!!!!"

The acclaimed actress, who played Dr. Elizabeth Corday on ER and the iconic River Song in Doctor Who, joins a lineup that also includes reality TV star Dani Dyer and sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey. Kingston has previously expressed her interest in joining the show, citing her friend and former contestant Sarah Hadland as an inspiration.

This marks the first time the veteran actress, with a career spanning over four decades, has taken part in a reality television show. Kingston's extensive career includes a BAFTA-nominated performance in The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders, and recent roles in series such as Douglas Is Cancelled and A Discovery of Witches. Her stage work is equally impressive, with a return to the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2023 for a production of The Tempest.

As rehearsals get underway, fans are eager to see how Kingston's talent and stage presence will translate to the ballroom dance floor. The new series of Strictly Come Dancing is set to premiere this autumn.
