PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS to End Support for Last-Gen Consoles in November | News

Get the latest on PUBG: Battlegrounds! Krafton ends support for last-gen consoles (PS4, Xbox One) on November 13, 2025, to boost performance on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Find out what this means for you, plus details on the new 37.1 update and upcoming esports events.

In a significant move for the popular battle royale game, Krafton, the developer of PUBG: Battlegrounds, has announced it will be ending support for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. The transition will take place on November 13, 2025, with the game becoming exclusive to current-generation hardware: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

The decision was announced during a recent server maintenance, with Krafton citing the need to improve stability and performance. According to the developer, dropping support for the older consoles will allow for more ambitious content updates and reduce memory-related crashes.

Players on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S can expect a significant performance boost. The game will run at 1440p resolution at 60fps on PlayStation 5, while Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 Pro will support 2160p at 60fps with Dynamic 4K. Xbox Series S will offer players the choice between 1080p at 60fps or 1440p at 30fps.

Existing account data and purchased items will automatically transfer to the new consoles. PS4 users will need to manually download the PS5 version from the PlayStation Store, while Xbox players will receive the upgraded version automatically through Smart Delivery. Krafton has acknowledged that this was a difficult decision, but it is a necessary step for the long-term growth of the game.
