Portugal's Under-21 national team secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Poland in their second group stage match of the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship on Saturday. The match, held at the Štadión na Sihoti in Trencin, saw a dominant performance from the Portuguese side, who bounced back emphatically from a disappointing start to their campaign.

The young Seleção entered the match under pressure, having been held to a goalless draw by France in their opening fixture. In contrast, Poland was looking to recover from a narrow 2-1 defeat to Georgia.

From the outset, Portugal displayed superior technical quality and attacking intent. Their persistent pressure paid off in the first half, with goals from G. Quenda in the 16th and 24th minutes, followed by a strike from H. Araújo in the 30th minute. P. Bernardo added a fourth just before halftime, effectively sealing the fate of the Polish side.

The second half saw Portugal maintain control of the game, though no further goals were added. The comprehensive win puts Portugal in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament, a significant boost to their aspirations of capturing their first-ever U21 European title.

For Poland, the heavy defeat marks a significant setback in their campaign, leaving them with a difficult path to advance from the group stage.

This encounter at the U21 level follows the most recent senior international meeting between the two nations on November 15, 2024, in the UEFA Nations League, where Portugal's senior team also emerged victorious with a commanding 5-1 win.
