Get the latest on Chelsea's imminent £50 million transfer for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens. A deal for the highly-rated English star is close

Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of Borussia Dortmund's highly-rated winger, Jamie Gittens, in a deal understood to be worth around £50 million (€65 million). Negotiations between the two clubs, which have been ongoing during the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, are said to have reached an advanced stage, with an official announcement anticipated imminently.

The 20-year-old England youth international has reportedly agreed to personal terms with the London club, committing to a seven-year contract. It is understood that Gittens has been Chelsea's primary target for the left-wing position and has favored a move to Stamford Bridge despite late interest from German giants Bayern Munich.

Gittens enjoyed a breakout season with Borussia Dortmund in the 2024/25 campaign, making 49 appearances across all competitions and contributing significantly with 17 goal involvements. His impressive statistics include eight goals and three assists in the Bundesliga, in addition to four goals in the UEFA Champions League.

However, after a blistering start to the season, his form reportedly saw a dip in the latter half of the campaign. During the ongoing Club World Cup, Gittens has been used sparingly by Dortmund, a move many speculate is to safeguard him from any potential injury that could jeopardize the high-profile transfer.

Chelsea had an initial bid of £42 million rejected by the German club earlier in the transfer window. However, their persistence appears to have paid off, with a revised offer meeting Dortmund's valuation.

The potential arrival of Gittens at Stamford Bridge signals a significant statement of intent from Chelsea as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season. The young winger, known for his pace, dribbling ability, and eye for goal, is expected to bring a new dynamic to the Blues' frontline.
