Fugitive Antoine Massey, one of the inmates who escaped from a New Orleans jail, has been captured. Get the latest news on his apprehension and the ongoing manhunt for the remaining escapee.

Antoine Massey, one of the two remaining fugitives from a brazen jailbreak at the Orleans Justice Center in May, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in the Hollygrove neighborhood of New Orleans on Friday, June 27, 2025. His capture concludes a multi-week manhunt involving local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Massey, 32, was one of ten inmates who escaped from the facility on May 16. The inmates reportedly breached their cell by removing a toilet and navigating through a plumbing chase to access the exterior of the jail.

At the time of his escape, Massey was being held on multiple charges, including vehicle theft and domestic abuse battery. He was also a person of interest in a separate investigation in St. Tammany Parish involving allegations of rape and kidnapping.

Following his escape, a man identified as Massey garnered further attention by posting a video to social media proclaiming his innocence and appealing for help from public figures. A subsequent raid on a location linked to the video did not lead to his immediate capture.

The recapture of Massey leaves only one inmate, Derrick Groves, still at large from the May escape. Authorities have described Groves as dangerous and are offering a significant reward for information leading to his arrest.

The mass escape has prompted scrutiny of the security measures and operational procedures at the Orleans Justice Center. Over a dozen individuals have been arrested on suspicion of aiding the escaped inmates.
